On-site carpentry vs factory-made
On-site carpentry is built in your home from boards cut to the room's exact size. It suits odd-sized walls, beams and corners, and repairs or changes are easy later. Factory-made modular units have a very clean edge finish and are quick to install, but need precise measurement in advance.
Many jobs mix the two – for example, factory-finished shutters on a carcass built on site. We suggest the approach based on the job and budget.
Good to know before carpentry starts
- Board grade. Ask which plywood or board is being used and where; wet areas need water-resistant grades.
- Hardware. Hinges, channels and handles decide how long the furniture works smoothly.
- Electrical points. Finalise switch and light points before units cover the walls.
- Dust and noise. Cutting work is noisy; plan with society timings in mind.
What affects carpentry cost
Size of each unit, board and laminate grade, shutter finish, number of drawers and hardware are the main factors. Repair jobs depend on the material needed and the time on site.

Frequently asked questions
Do you take small carpentry repair jobs?
Yes, repairs such as hinges, channels, door alignment and lock fitting can be booked.
Do your carpenters work on site?
Yes, most woodwork is made and fitted on site to your room's size.
Which plywood should I use?
For dry areas, a good commercial or MR-grade board is common; for kitchens and near water, a water-resistant grade such as BWP is better. We discuss options with costs.
Can you match existing furniture?
We can try to match laminate and design where the same materials are still available.
