Flooring options
- Vitrified tiles. Most common for homes – wide range, easy upkeep.
- Marble. Indian or imported; needs proper laying and later polishing.
- Granite. Very hard; common for stairs, thresholds and kitchen tops.
- Kota and other stone. Durable and economical for utility areas, parking and terraces.
- Wooden-look and laminate. Laminate wooden flooring for bedrooms, if you prefer that look.
Replacing an old floor
Many older Dwarka flats still have the original mosaic, kota or ceramic floors. Replacing them involves removing the old floor, checking the base, and relaying at a level that still works with door frames and bathroom thresholds. If doors will need trimming after the new floor, that is planned in.
Checks before flooring
- Floor level. New floor height vs door bottoms and skirting.
- Dampness. Ground-floor homes should check for rising damp first.
- Material quantity. Add wastage for cutting and patterns.
- Furniture. Rooms need to be emptied in sequence.
What affects flooring cost
