Tile Selection Guide for Kitchens and Bathrooms
Wet areas are where tile choice matters most – for safety, cleaning and how long the job lasts.

Bathroom floors
Choose matt or anti-skid finish. Glossy floor tiles get slippery when wet. Smaller tiles make it easier to give the floor a proper slope towards the drain.
Bathroom walls
Ceramic or vitrified wall tiles both work. Light colours make small bathrooms feel larger; full-height tiling is easier to clean than half-height with paint above.
Kitchen backsplash
Pick a surface that is easy to wipe. Fewer grout lines (larger tiles) or epoxy grout make oil stains easier to clean.
Waterproofing before tiles
New tiles over a leaking base will not stop leaks. Bathrooms and balconies should be waterproofed before tiling. See tile work and civil work.
Buy a little extra
Order extra for cutting wastage and keep a few spare tiles from the same batch – colours vary between batches.
